First of all, thank you, Butte, for the efforts you made to support local businesses during this time. It’s been a blessing to see how this community cares for their own.
On a personal note, I am thrilled to be able to walk back into businesses. I got to go to the gym this weekend! Eating out on Friday night was such a treat! I appreciated it so much more. It’s very easy to take those simple pleasures for granted until they are gone.
Now for a few friendly reminders:
- The shops and gyms and restaurants that are opening back up are learning to do business all over again. They have new rules to follow and brand new operating systems to iron out. Lines are going to be long and service might be slower than normal. Please offer them some grace! Be patient. Treat them with kindness and understanding.
- You’ve seen first hand what shopping local can do! You were responsible for keeping these great shops from shutting their doors forever. Now keep going! We need to support them every day like that, not just because of a pandemic. They depend on your patronage to survive. Shop Local!
- Opening doesn’t give us license to stop following guidelines set in place by the Health Department. Yes, we can get out and enjoy but we still need to be cognizant of distancing, hand washing, and other suggestions. These rules weren’t made to kill all the fun, they were made to keep our immune compromised citizens safe.
Please take these reminders with you as you get out and enjoy all that the Mining City has to offer!
