The Butte High Sophomore 103-pounder went 6-0 to lead Butte High at the Mining City Duals Jim Street Classic Wrestling tournament. The performance continued Gransbery’s unbeatedn streak to start the season, and it earned him a spot on the all-tournament team.

The Butte High Senior had a huge season for the Bulldogs on both sides of the ball. In addition being a key target in the Bulldog passing game, McCarthy also picked off three passes on defense. His pick 6 to cap Butte High’s Senior Night win was one of the highlights of Bulldog playoff season.
Kira Mortensen and Emma Field
The Butte High 6-foot-2 Juniors each spiked 13 kills to lead Butte High in a marathon five-set loss to Bozeman. Mortensen also blocked four shots and Field blocked three and a half in the match that saw four sets go extra points.
The Butte High Senior hauled in five passes for 94 yards and two touchdowns to help lead Butte High to a 56-13 Senior Night win over Billings Skyview. After catching an 11-yard touchdown pass from Junior Tommy Mellott, Kelly put the Bulldogs up for good by scoring on a 68-yard reception.
The Bulldog Offensive Line
Konor McClafferty, Lucas Kingston, Ryan McCarthy, Ty Raiha and Kyle Harding paved the way as Butte High knocked off Great Falls High 28-14 on Silver B’s Night. With the big men leading the way, the Bulldogs racked up 250 yards rushing.
The Butte High Senior Inside Linebacker is the heart and soul of the Bulldog defense. Anderson leads the team in tackles. He has also picked of a pass and recovered a pair of fumbles. When something good happens for the Butte High defense, No. 37 is usually right in the mix.
The Butte High Senior led Butte High with an impressive time of 17 minutes, 31 seconds to lead the Bulldog runners at the Mountain West Classic in Missoula. Vetter then raced home to play a strong second half for the Butte High soccer team.
The Butte High Junior scored on a 3 yard run and then punched in the game-winning 2 point conversion in Butte High’s 39-38 overtime Homecoming victory over Missoula Sentinel. The overtime touchdown was the second of the game for Moreno, who was also a force on the Butte High defense.
The Butte High Senior libero led the Bulldogs to a 2-1 record during the week. Butte High beat CMR in five sets and Dillon in four before falling to perennial power Billings Senior in five sets. Tierney tallied 47 digs in three matches, including 29 in the win over CMR.
The Butte High Junior quarterback racked up 476 yards of total offense to lead the Bulldogs in a 37-27 loss at Helena Capital. Mellott ran for 142 yards and three touchdowns. He added 334 yards and a score through the air.

The Butte High Senior captured the Eastern AA Divisional javelin title at the Gene Fogarty Complex in Butte. Walker won the meet and booked a trip to the Class AA State meet by launching the javelin a personal-best 171 feet, 10 inches.
Destine Soennichsen and Keeley Porchervina
The Butte High Senior duo placed third in double at the Southern AA Divisional tennis tournament and will represent Butte High at the Class AA State meet in Kalispell. This marks the second straight season Soennichsen will compete at State. Porchervina will be making her first appearance.
The Butte High Senior won a pair of matches to advance to the semifinals in the No. 1 singles tournament of the Helena Invitational. The meet is the final before the Bulldogs head to the divisional tournament in Bozeman.
The Butte High Senior broke a 31 year old school record by clearing 15 feet, 3 inches to win the pole vault at the Russ Pilcher Western Montana Top 10 meet in Missoula. Four days later, Peterson cleared 13-6 in the wind to win the John Tomich Invitational title.
The Butte High Junior hit three home runs in four games as the Bulldogs won three times in Billings. Butte High split with Billings Senior before taking two from Billings West. Tierney is tied with Taylor Huff for the team lead with three home runs.

Ricketts was the lone senior on the Butte High boys’ basketball team which saw its season end with a loss to Billings Skyview at the Eastern A Divisional tournament. Ricketts closed his career by sinking a deep 3-pointer during the fourth quarter of Butte High’s comeback attempt in the season-ending loss.
The Butte High Junior scored 13 points to lead Butte High to a Senior Night win over Billings Skyview. Tierney’s relentless defense also held Skyview’s top scorer to just five points
The Butte High Junior hit six 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lead Butte High as the Bulldogs fell 59-56 to Billings Senior. A night earlier, Roth scored 10 points against Billings West.
The Butte High Senior placed second at 120 pounds to lead Butte High at the All-Class State Wrestling meet in billings. Tierney dropped a thrilling 4-3 decision to Bozeman’s Sterling Quinn in the championship match.
The Butte High Junior guard scored a career-high 25 points to lead Butte High to an upset victory over Bozeman at Richardson Gym. Three nights later, Ferguson set a new personal record with 28 points in a tough loss to Billings Skyview at the Butte Civic Center.
On Senior Parent Day, the Butte High Senior swimmer placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle and fifth in the 50 fre at the Butte High School Montana Classic. Walsh posted personal-best times in both races at the Butte Family YMCA.
The Butte High Junior scored a total of 32 points to lead the Bulldogs on their trip to Billings West and Billings Senior. He scored 16 points each game. Ferguson, who led Butte High in scoring in six of the last seven games, is averaging 13.8 points per game.
The Butte High Sophomore scored 23 points to lead Butte High to a stunning 57-51 comeback victory over Butte Central. The win was the first over Butte Central since 2014. Herron is averaging 7.7 points and a team-best 6.4 rebounds per game.
The Butte High Senior won the heavyweight title at the Tom LeProwse Invitational wrestling tournament. His victory led the Bulldogs to a third-place finish in the 32-team tournament. Queer is the defending Class AA state champion in the heavy weight division.
Ally Cleverly and Haley Herron
Cleverly is a Junior, while Herron is a Sophmore. Both Butte High players scored 11 points as Butte High went on the road to knock off Kalispell Flathead 39-31 just before Christmas. The win evened Butte High’s record at 2-2 at the break.
The Butte High Junior guard scored a career-high 22 points to lead Butte High to a 66-58 win over Missoula Big Sky. Two nights later, Tierney scored 15 points as Butte High fell in a hard fought 44-38 battle with Helena Capital.
The Butte High Sophomore won the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly at the Butte Invitational swim meet. Russo is the defending state champion in both events. She set a personal record for the 50 freestyle, while winning the 100 butterfly by nearly 10 seconds.
Bo Mortensen and Greyson Mandic
The Butte High seniors play their last high school game against Missoula Big Sky. Mortensen is a running back, while Mandic plays on both sides of the line. Both will close their careers as four-year football lettermen.
The Butte High Senior linebacker led an inspired Bulldog defensive effort at Great Falls High. Walker has been at the heart of the Bulldog defense all season long.
The Butte High Freshman placed 28th out of 324 runners at the Mountain West Classic in Missoula. Corcoran finished the 5 kilometer race in 19 minutes, 41 seconds. The impressive showing came one week after she placed sixth at the Butte Invitational.
The Butte High Senior fired a 33 on the back nine at the Butte Country club for a final-round 73 to lead the Bulldogs to the team title of the Anaconda/Butte Golf Tournament. Weldon placed second in individual standings
