So on Monday, I had an appointment with my dentist because I had a tooth being very naughty. From previous visits to the dentist, I knew that this tooth was cracked and eventually going to need a root canal (whoopee) and a crown (yee haw). Up until now, I have been able to get by with my awesome dentist cobbling it together with bailing wire, duct tape and a shot of WD-40.
Well, over the weekend, it became very apparent that said tooth had decided enough was enough and it was letting me know about it in a very painful way. Now, anyone who know me, knows I am a bit of a tightwad when it comes to spending money. I made the decision that we were just going to yank that sucker and teach it a lesson. Once the dentist got in there and found the spot causing pain (I scared the heck out of him and his assistant when I levitated off the chair), he found that the issue wasn’t the aforementioned crack, but a tiny hole right at the gum line. Praise be the tooth fairy gods!!
At the end of the day, a little filling and filing and it was good to go. No leaving a big gaping hole in my gums from pulling the tooth. No having to take a second and third mortgage to have a root canal and crown. Just a simple shot, fill, polish and go.
Sometimes expecting the worst can turn out to be a pretty good thing.
